Six Feet Under originally formed as a side project of Chris Barnes, then the voice of Cannibal Corpse, and Allen West of Obituary. However, their 1995 debut Haunted quickly became an instant classic that defined a new direction: death metal built on mid-tempo rhythms and massive groove. Barnes’ unmistakable deep growl, combined with simple yet crushing song structures, offered an alternative to the era’s obsession with technical precision and speed. The band thus carved out a unique position as a “Death ’n’ Roll” titan, unafraid to experiment — even with unconventional cover versions in their controversial Graveyard Classics series.

Even after decades and countless lineup changes, SFU remain faithful to their vision. Their discography, packed with blood-soaked themes and social criticism, stands as proof of their resistance to trends.
