SUFFOCATION, INGESTED, UNDEATH, ETERNAL - Košice

New York death metal icons Suffocation will bring the absolute definition of brutal death metal to Košice’s Collosseum Club on October 8. Backing them up will be modern slaughterers Ingested, the filthy death metal force Undeath, and the uncompromising Eternal.

Suffocation need little introduction. They are the architects who helped define slam and technical death metal through landmark albums such as Effigy of the Forgotten and Pierced from Within. Their trademark sound is built around the relentless, percussive riffing of Terrance Hobbs and the complex drumming that became a blueprint for generations of extreme metal musicians. Even after the departure of longtime vocalist Frank Mullen, the band has lost none of its legendary aggression under the command of frontman Ricky Myers, as proven by their latest studio release, Hymns from the Apocrypha. In Košice, they will deliver a masterclass in death metal transformed into pure, uncompromising live intensity.

The bill is rounded out by three bands representing some of the finest approaches to extreme metal across different eras. Britain’s Ingested bring their modern, slam-infused deathcore and the crushing brutality they have been refining since their debut album Surpassing the Boundaries of Human Suffering. Meanwhile, Undeath stand at the forefront of the current old-school death metal revival, delivering a rotten, straight-to-the-point sound that evokes the genre’s golden age while maintaining a contemporary edge. Opening the night will be Arizona’s Eternal, who will present material from their debut album Cryptic Lust, blending classic old-school death metal with the aesthetics of gothic horror.
